Great Outdoors Gear Testing

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to try out a couple of new bits of equipment. Suunto’s Core Watch and Manfrotto’s new BeFree Compact Travel Tripod. What better place to test out the new gear than out in the middle of the Tasmanian wilderness, just south of Cradle Mountain at a place called Pumphouse Point.

The Suunto Core is a the ultimate time piece for anyone that thrives on the great outdoors, whether you’re hiking, surfing, skiing or camping – this watch has been developed to provide enthusiasts with all of the information to get the most out of their outdoor adventures. The Suunto Core comes equipped with more useful functions than most smartwatches including; altimeter, barometer, compass, sunrise/sunset and storm warning modes.

The new Manfrotto BeFree Travel Tripod is a sturdy and compact tripod with legs that can spread independently of one another and can do so at two different angles. For me, the beauty of this compact little addition is that the legs fold up and around the ball head and only weighs 4kgs making it a light and compact travel companion.

Here’s a few shots from the Tasmanian testing session.
