About three months ago, I was invited to a two day self-guided kayaking/camping trip, needless to say I accepted the offer on the spot. The trip went down last weekend and it was nothing short of epic.
After a short ten minute bus trip out of the Kangaroo Valley, we arrived at the Bendeela picnic area where 20 some-odd friends cast off down the Kangaroo River, in a mix of canoe’s and kayak’s laden with all the essentials; such as cold beer and cask wine.
Both days were made up of about 3-4 hours of paddling (depending on pace) through the scenic Morton National Park. The river has loads of great locations to set up camp and it’s left up to river go-ers where they decide to pitch a tent. Lucky for us, some of the gang did the same trip last year, so we had some insider information on the best spots to set up.
If you’d like to take on this self-guided tour from Bendeela to Tallowa Dam in the Kangaroo Valley jump onto Kangaroo Valley Safaris.
Here are a few of my favourite shots from the week.
